| Dennis Setzer led once for 126 laps to earn WIX® Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Kroger 250. He claimed the award for the first time this season and has led at least one lap in three of the four races this season.
Setzer won today’s race at Martinsville, his 18th Craftsman Truck Series in 246 starts. He scored his 10th short track victory in 73 races. He claimed his third Martinsville victory in 17 starts at the Virginia speedway.
SETZER QUOTES: HOW SPECIAL IS TODAY’S VICTORY? “It’s really special. You know, to win here at Martinsville or to win anywhere is great in the truck series. It’s a tough series right now. What these people have put together and brought their team over to Virginia from Tennessee is pretty special.” HOW DID YOU GET IN POSITION TO LEAD THE RACE? “We pitted and did fuel only about 80 laps into it, 60 or 80 laps into it. We were one of the first trucks back on pit road but still had to pass some trucks to get to that point. Kyle Busch was the only one in front of us that hadn’t pitted yet. We followed him around until he decided to or got into a little bump up and then it was time to go.” HOW SPECIAL IS IT TO LEAD THE MOST LAPS IN A RACE WITH DENNY HAMLIN AND KYLE BUSCH? “That means a lot for our team. Winning the WIX award tells how well our truck was prepared. It rotated well all day and throttle up off the corner, it was nice there. It’s just a testament to our truck. About anybody can drive these things if you get it headed the right way. We had a great brake package and that’s something I pride myself in is knowing what I need to get to victory lane.” THERE WERE SEVERAL RESTARTS NEAR THE END OF THE RACE. “They always make you nervous but to be honest with you we had a lot better truck under long green flags. It seemed like they’d run with us for five or six green flag laps and then our truck would really start easing away. We had a pretty strong truck on restarts, too.”
Setzer’s victory is his first top-five and second top-10 in 2008. His best finish prior to today’s Kroger 250 was 10th in the season opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
UNOFFICIALLY Setzer is fourth in the series championship standings, 67 points behind leader Kyle Busch. He is two points behind third-place Ron Hornaday Jr. and two points ahead of fifth-place Rick Crawford.
This is the 20th Craftsman Truck Series victory for Bobby Hamilton Racing and the first for Lori Hamilton as truck owner. The team is based in Martinsville.
