| Jimmie Johnson led four times for 96 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s SYLVANIA 300. Johnson has now led at least one lap in 21 of the 27 races for a total of 1,094 laps. He joins Kyle Busch as the only drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to lead over 1,000 laps this season.
Johnson trails Kyle Busch by two races (9-7) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
Johnson scored a second-place finish in today’s race, .505 behind race winner Greg Biffle. He logged his 10th top-five and 15 top-10 finish of the 2008 season.

We’d love to be in victory lane celebrating right now but big picture, second-place is not a bad day at the office so very happy with the performance. We had great stops, fast car, and the only weakness we had all day long was on the restarts. From the very first start of the race we were losing spots and it would take a while to get the tires up and get going. I really felt after the two or three restarts we had on that set of tires that my tires would be good and I’d be able to get away from Greg [Biffle] but his stuff must have been coming in as well and he was just too strong on the short run.”
