Wix Filters Introduces HIGH-CAPACITY, HIGH-EFFICIENCY

Tuesday, 09 October 2001

Wix Filtration Products, a part of Dana Corporation’s Automotive Aftermarket Group (NYSE: DCN) and a leading manufacturer and distributor of filtration products, has introduced a new line of high-capacity, high-efficiency, high-performance oil filters for over-the-road trucks utilizing its patent-pending Spin-Flow Technology.

The innovative XD (Extended Drain) line of heavy-duty WIX Filters incorporates the following features:
 Nylon fins that spin the incoming contaminated oil in a clockwise, centrifugal flow to immediately disperse heavy contaminants;
 A glass-filled nylon spinner that mixes oil from the coarse and fine media sections in a counter-clockwise flow on the clean side of the filter;
 A four-layer wire-backed synthetic media in the fine filtration element; and
 A high-strength, multi-composite media in the coarse filtration element.
The result is a filter that removes oil contaminants more effectively and lasts much longer than conventional filters.
In product testing, the new XD filter demonstrated up to 50 percent more capacity, finer particulate efficiency and up to 50 percent longer life than its nearest competitor.

“The XD filter is a great leap forward in heavy-duty oil filter technology,” said Bruce R. Johnston, brand manager for Wix Filtration Products. “It will contribute to both the efficiency and peace of mind of over-the-road drivers, and represents the kind of innovation and performance advantage customers have come to expect from WIX.”
“Achieving the kind of increases we’ve seen with the XD filter in both capacity and filter life is remarkable,” said Bill Stamey, heavy duty product engineering manager for Wix Filtration Products. “The WIX engineering team is continuing to push the performance envelope with all our products, and seeing results like these is a clear indicator of that commitment.”
WIX’s top five heavy-duty oil filters are included in the XD line, covering most over-the-road truck applications.
